Ever since I first listened to the song "Kick, Push", I was mesmerized about Lupe's music and have been a fan ever since. Via his songs he communicates a creative diversity of real life issues that are relevant in society, UNLIKE some of the nonsense that one sometimes hears in some hip-hop and rap tracks that disturbingly only know how to talk about money, fame, sex, and how pimp they are. Many people sleep on his music, perhaps, because they don't understand his lyrical message or choose not to acknowledge the great artist that he is. Sadly enough, I believe the music industry definitely doesn't give him enough credit for his work. Nevertheless, he always delivers awesome music to his fans no matter how long the wait. His live performances are nothing short of AMAZING!!! You can genuinely see how he pours his heart and soul in each and every song he performs. To me, Lupe Fiasco exemplifies what a TRUE lyricist should be. He is truly the best. Can't hardly wait for his new material, LASERS, to officially debut.
All I know is one thing Lupe is definitely under rated, lasers is goin to really be on point and get more fans involved cuz he has that POP type music mixed with real rap lyrics and a touch of hip hop but man I'm waiting for his album to drop like its new years eve, when its from Lupe we all know its going to be great and creative lookin forward to it! Also nice blog site.
Never been a huge fan of hip hop but Lupe Fiasco is one of my all time favourites. I have so much respect for his talent and message. He makes music with a purpose; a purpose I can get behind. Yes, Lasers is different but he's still doing what he does best. From what I've heard of it, I know I'mma love it. I will getting a copy for myself when I find it in South Africa.
make sure to check out this interview with the man himself about the struggles of Lasers:
